Lemin

Mr. Paul Clyde Lemin

Mr. Paul Clyde Lemin of Grand Rapids, age 61, passed away unexpectedly Friday, April 3, 2015.  He was born in Ishpeming, Michigan, to Paul and Marjorie (Morris) Lemin in 1953. On August 7, 1976, he married Lynn Fraser and they enjoyed 38 years together.  He worked as a Senior Applications Engineer for Burke E. Porter Machinery Co. for almost 39 years.  In his spare time Paul enjoyed sitting around the campfire, camping, watching hockey and spending time with his dog, Lucy.  However, most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter, who had him wrapped around her finger.  Paul will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his family and all who knew him.  He is survived by his loving wife, Lynn; children, Julie (Mike) Heinz, Heather Lemin, Brian (Ashley) Lemin; granddaughter, Ava Lemin; mother, Marjorie; brother, Myles Lemin; sisters, Connie (Bill) Priess, Kay (Dennis) Jewell; and many nieces and nephews.  Paul was preceded in death by his father, Paul.  The memorial service for Paul will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at the Pederson Funeral Home, 127 N. Monroe St., Rockford, MI 49341.  There will be a time of visitation from 1-3 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at the funeral home before the memorial service.  Memorial contributions can be made in Paul’s name to the Human Society of West Michigan, 3077 Wilson Dr. NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49534, or to the Boy Scouts of America, Gerald R. Suttliffe, Beatrice SQUIRE

Mrs. Beatrice Janet “Bea” Sutliffe

Mrs. Beatrice Janet “Bea” Sutliffe of Hastings, Michigan, age 96, passed away into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 31, 2015. She was born to Clum and Edith (Dake) Hole on Friday, October 11, 1918, in Boyne City, Michigan.

Bea was a loving and devoted wife, wonderful mother, dear sister and friend, and the best grandmother anyone could ask for. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by friends, family, and all those who knew her. Bea is survived by her loving children Merwin Stout, Sharon (Tom) Umlor, John Stout, Raymond Sutliffe, and Janet Morgan; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings, Helen Twiss, Betty (Lee) Scrivner, Art (Connie) Hole, and Tom (Kate) Hole; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband George Ford Sutliffe in 1974; grandson Thomas Herblet in 2005; and siblings, Irene, Jessie, Mike, Raymond, Frank, Elmer, Edward, and Fred.

There will be a time of visitation from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 2, 2015, at Pederson Funeral Home, 127 N. Monroe Street NE, Rockford, MI 49341. The funeral service for Bea will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 3, 2015, at Pederson Funeral Home. There will also be a one hour visitation prior to the service. Interment will be at Blythefield Memory Gardens.

Thayer L. Sanders age 92 a resident of  Cedar Springs passed away peacefully and entered his eternal home with his Savior, Jesus Christ on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at his home. Thayer was born October 19, 1922 in Walkerville, MI to Joseph and Mary Sanders.

He served with the US Army during WWII in Germany. In 1947 he married the former Fern E. Smith and they were married for 60 years prior to her passing in 2007. For many years he worked for Wolverine Trucking, Darling Freight and later Alvan. Upon his retirement from Alvan in 1984 he resided in Bitely for 21 years where he loved to fish, and garden and worship at Grace Community Church. In 2004 he moved to Cedar Springs and resided with his daughter Deb Eadie and her husband Larry. While living there he continued his love of gardening, reading, spending time with his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and also attended Courtland Mission Fellowship.

Surviving are his children, Linda (Sam) Mireles,  Sandra Sanders, Deborah (Larry) Eadie,  Thomas (Keitha) Sanders, Tim Sanders, several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Beside his wife Fern he was preceded in death by his parents and brothers and sisters.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Pederson Funeral Home with Mr. Ron Parson, a dear friend of the family officiating. Interment at Blythefield Memory Gardens. A time of visitation was held on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Military honors were extended by the Kent County Honor Guard and the US Army.

Mr. William Richard Parker

 

 

Mr. William Richard Parker of Comstock Park, Michigan, age 81, passed away in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family, in the early morning hours of Friday, April 3, 2015. He was born in Lebanon, New Hampshire to Robert and Rose (Hill) Parker on Thursday, February 1, 1934.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife of sixty-three years, Roberta Gilman Parker; his daughter Elizabeth Widener, his son William (Linda) Parker; his grandchildren, Jesse and Zachary Widener, Jennifer Hall and Kate (Kyler) Porter; his sisters Mary Hathorn of New Hampshire, and Sherry Williams of Vermont; and many nieces and nephews. His son Nathan Robert Parker, preceded him in death.

Bill was ten years old when he held his first job working in a lumber camp in New Hampshire, and continued to work until he retired at the age of eighty. He took pride in his service in the United States Army in field artillery and also as a Ranger in a regimental combat team in Iceland.

Bill had a PhD in economics from Fordham University and a Doctorate in Education from the University of Michigan. Bill taught and was an administrator at various colleges in New England, until he came to Michigan in 1970, to act as Dean at Aquinas College in Grand Rapids. He was also a Master Instructor for the National Civilian Marksmanship Program. In 1978, Bill began his own investment advisory business in Grand Rapids, earning the professional designations of Chartered Life Underwriter, Chartered Financial Consultant, and Licensed Insurance Counselor. In 1998, Bill’s son joined the business and in 2000, they moved the practice to Rockford, Michigan. Bill took great pleasure in his time spent outdoors, whether he was hunting, fishing, or walking in the woods with his American Brittany, Jersey.

There was a time of visitation from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, April 6, 2015, at Pederson Funeral Home, 127 N. Monroe Street NE, Rockford, MI 49341. The funeral service for Bill was celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at Pederson Funeral Home. Pastor Ken Bremer officiated, and under the auspices of the Kent County Veteran’s Honor Guard and the United States Army, full military honors were performed. There was also a one hour visitation prior to the funeral service. Interment was at Fort Custer National Cemetery.

Mrs. Ida I. DeHaas

Mrs. Ida I. DeHaas of Chase, Michigan, age 79, passed away into the arms of her Lord and Savior on the evening of Thursday, April 2, 2015. She was born to Clarence and Irene (Stratner) Beach on Wednesday, August 7, 1935 in Levering, Michigan.

Ida was a woman of many accomplishments. She worked as a benefits representative for General Motors for thirty-one years, before her retirement. She also served on the UAW CAP Council, served as chairwoman and very active member for the Kent County Democratic Party, was a member of the Quilter’s Guild, and was very instrumental in creating the “Ride for a Cure” program at D bar D Ranch, for which she was incredibly proud of. Ida was a loving and devoted wife, wonderful mother, dear sister and friend, and the best grandmother anyone could ask for.

She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all those who knew her. Ida is survived by her loving children Denise Clinton, Douglas (Maricel) Baker, Damon (Abby) Baker, Darwin Baker, Timothy (Margo) DeHaas, and Tamara (Richard) Wojtowicz; grandchildren Jessie, Douglas, Jr., Damon, Jr., Jon, Chelsea, and Arden; eight great grandchildren; brother Kenneth Beach; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Arden L. Baker and Baxter “Buck” G. DeHaas; grandson Glenn McClure; and brother Charles (Georgia) Beach.

There was a time of visitation held from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, April 6, 2015, and from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at Pederson Funeral Home, 127 N. Monroe Street NE, Rockford, MI 49341. The funeral service for Ida was celebrated at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 8, 2015, at Pederson Funeral Home. Interment was in Rockford Cemetery.

Mrs. Luise Wilhelmina Hoxie, age 89, of Macomb Township passed away on April 3, 2015 in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Luise was born in Detroit, Michigan on September 22, 1925 to the late Henry and Emma (Kulewatz) Ribbentrop. On August 3, 1946 she was united in marriage with Corp. Lloyd Hoxie in Detroit. Luise graduated from Southeastern High School in Detroit and was a devoted wife/mother/homemaker to her late husband, Dr. Lloyd Hoxie, D.O. and their three children.  She loved dancing, playing bridge, animals, was an avid interior decorator, and an active member of Mt. Clemens General Hospital’s women’s auxiliary.

Luise is predeceased by her parents and her brother, Paul Henry Ribbentrop. She is survived by her children, Larry (Tamara) Hoxie, Lee (Irena) Hoxie, and Lisa Mandrell (fiancé, Dan Hamilton). Also surviving are six grandchildren, Jacob (Iliana) Hoxie, Noel Hoxie, Gabriel Hoxie, Michael Hoxie, Austin Mandrell, Marisa Mandrell; and a great grandson, Oliver Hoxie.

Memorial service was held on Monday, April 6. Per Luise’s wishes, a private burial service will be held for Luise and Lloyd at the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the Humane Society of Macomb County, 11350 22 Mile Road, Utica, MI 48317.

Mrs. Viola Vivian Jones of Grand Rapids, Michigan, formerly of Belmont, age 89, passed away into the arms of her Lord and Savior in the early evening of Tuesday, March 31, 2015, surrounded by her loving family. She was born to Ira and Verta (Austin) Wainright on Wednesday, September 2, 1925 in Sparta, Michigan and had been a life-long resident of the Grand Rapids area.

Viola graduated Sand Lake High School in 1943 and worked for House of Lloyd’s for thirty-two years before her retirement in 1997. She loved her career, because it allowed her to travel and see the world in its entirety, fulfilling her wanderlust.

Viola is survived by her loving children Donald (Dorisjean) Graham, Marilyn Vredevelt, Robert (Debbie) Graham, and Terry (Tasha) Jones; step-son Monty (Dawn) Jones; fifteen grandchildren; more than twenty great grandchildren; brother Melvin (Dolores) Wainright; and sister Lois (Ray) Todd. She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband Robert K. Jones; grandson Richard Graham; great granddaughter Julia Vredevelt; and brothers Lester, Bob, and Jerry Wainright.

The funeral service for Viola was celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 3, 2015, at Plainfield Christian Church, 7255 Pine Island Drive NE, Comstock Park, MI 49321. Pastor Bruce Wilson officiated. There was a time of visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment was in Plainfield Township Cemetery.

Mrs. Barbara Ann Magoon age 79, of Newaygo, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family Wednesday, April 1, 2015. She was born in 1935 to George and Gladys (Bray) LaPonsie in Munising, Michigan.

Barbara enjoyed playing cards with friends, Janalee and Lester and playing bingo at the Lions Club. However, her family and grandchildren were most important to her and she cherished the time spent with them.

Barbara will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her family and all who knew her. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Harold; children, Diana Meyer, Denise Gribowski, Doreen (Andy) Jansma, Harry (Ann) Magoon; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Jeanne Corbett; brothers, Ozzie (Cookie) LaPonsie and George (Joan) LaPonsie; sisters-in-law, Pat LaPonsie, Sandy Nowak and Betty Magoon. Barbara was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Hank Gribowski; parents; and brother, Harold LaPonsie; and brother-in-law, Tom Corbett.

There will be a memorial service for Barbara at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 18, 2015 at the White Cloud Lion’s Club, 294 N. Charles St., White Cloud, MI 49349.

 

Mr. Martin Lee Milner aged 55 of Rockford went to be with his father and brother in Heaven on April 2, 2015. He was born to Marvin Milner and Shirley (Cole) April 23, 1959 in Grand Rapids and  was employed by the Rockford School system.

He enjoyed wood working and turning pens on a lathe. Martin is survived by his loving wife of 25 years Sharry, children; Michael ( Sandy) Jewell, Daniel (Cathy) Zarbeck, Teresa (Michael) Young, Martin (Kylee) Milner; grandchildren; Corrina and Joseph Jewell, Danielle Zarbeck, Aubry and Caden Paradis, parents: John and Shirley Lang; a sister, Sheryl Cousineau.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Rockford Baptist Church with Pastor Jeff DeRyke officiating. A time of visitation was held on Monday, April 6 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Pederson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Joann M. Steele aged 70 of Comstock Park passed away Friday, April 3, 2015. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Richard Steele; brother, Edward Grazak.

Surviving are her son, Rick (Molly) Steele; daughter, Shelly Steele; sister, Pearl Eichler; brother, Raymond Grazak; several nieces and nephews; and their beloved dog Casey.

A Memorial service was held 3:00 p.m. Monday April 6, 2015 at the Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 1601 Post Dr. NE., Belmont. Her family greeted relatives and friends 1:00 p.m. until time of service on Monday.
