Florence C. Kramer of Rockford, Michigan, age 81, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 10, 2018.

She was born to Arthur and Mary Francis (Ryan) Tanis on January 13, 1937, in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  Florence was the second of three children brought up in Grand Rapids. She was a 1955 graduate of Grand Rapids Catholic Central High School and earned her RN degree from Providence Hospital Nursing School in Detroit, Michigan, in 1958. She worked at Grand Rapids Osteopathic Hospital in charge of the maternity ward for several years.

In 1967, she married widower Eugene Kramer and instantly had three children. Soon a fourth was added.

Florence loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren, and friends. She is widely remembered as someone with a quick smile, a warm hug, and a servant’s heart. She enjoyed travel, shows and concerts, and doting on her little dog. She was an active member of the Our Lady of Consolation parish and will be greatly missed for her dedication and commitment to the ministries of the church.

Florence is survived by her loving children Kay Kesteloot, John (Rachel), Carolyn, and Mary (Tom) Akre; eleven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Sharon Dood; and numerous nieces, nephews, dear friends, and other beloved members of the family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dr. Eugene P. Kramer, DO, in 2003; and brothers, Patrick (Patricia) Tanis and John Tanis.

Visitation was held 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 13, 2018, at Pederson Funeral Home, 127 N. Monroe Street NE, Rockford, MI 49341. A Praying of the Rosary was read immediately following visitation at 8:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by Fr. Tony Russo at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 14, 2018, at Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church, 4865 11 Mile Road NE, Rockford, MI 49341. There was a one-hour visitation at church prior to Mass. Florence was laid to rest next to her beloved husband in Rockford Cemetery.

Those wishing to offer an expression of sympathy are encouraged to make a memorial contribution to Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church.
